Some 1,000 Filipino youths will join the World Youth Day 2016 in Poland this July, the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) said.
The CBCP Episcopal Commission on Youth is helping process the visa applications of these applicants, Father Conegundo Garganta, executive secretary for the CBCP Episcopal Commission on Youth, said.
“We are now preparing for World Youth Day in Poland in July. We’re waiting for the Polish consulate to issue the documents and the process that they will implement as regards with the visa application,” he said on Church-run Radyo Veritas.
He said 340 of the youths were under the CBCP-ECY. The rest are from other parishes.
But this early, Garganta said he was hoping the would-be delegates were putting into practice the extraordinary Jubilee celebration of the Year of Mercy.
“Connected to how the Holy Father initiated the extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy since the theme of the World Youth Day is also with the similar tone, be merciful and you will be shown mercy. Indication not only for young people but to all Christians and Catholics to exercise mercy and compassion,” he said.
