170 Filipinos arrested on illegal
immigrants crackdown in Sabah

At least 170 Filipinos were arrested in a crackdown by Malaysian authorities on illegal immigrants in Sabah on Friday, June 17.

Malaysian authorities also rounded up 85 Indonesians in the raid on the east coast district of Sandakan, Malaysia’s The Star Online reported.

The report quoted a National Security Council spokesman as saying some 592 people were screened during the one-day operation.

It said the youngest was 14 while the oldest was 65.

The 255 were transferred to the temporary immigration detention center in Sandakan and will face further investigation. MC
