Asked about her winning edge in the pageant, Yano believes that it is her beauty that captivated the members of the board of judges. She also won the Ambassador’s Award and Popularity Queen in the pageant.
Yano said that she will prepare carabao meat and pork when she goes home to Surigao province for her homecoming soon. She has a 17-year-old daughter named Akie.
Asa, a mother of two and a grandmother of two, said that she will use her crown to promote local tourism. “I love to travel and so I will promote abroad our wonderful destinations here in the Philippines,” she said.
The two Filipino beauty queens bested 33 other candidates during the coronation night held at the Eone City Ballroom in Kuala Lumpur.
“I couldn’t explain my happiness. To win a crown is a gift. But to win two crowns in one pageant, it’s really a blessing,” said Ovette Ricalde, franchise director for Mrs. Asia International Philippines pageant, during a victory press conference held at the Luxent Hotel in Quezon City.
“Magaganda rin naman ang mga nakalaban nila at ready din sila. Siguro malapit lang tayo kay Lord kaya binigyan n’ya tayo ng maraming korona.” (The other candidates are also beautiful and prepared. I think we are closer to the Lord that’s why He gave us many crowns),” said Ricalde.
“I want to thank my family and friends. But most of all, I will miss Goulee Gorospe who passed away recently. He was the first one who convinced me to try modelling. I want to offer my victory to him wherever he is,” said Yano.
Asa, who was born and raised in Hagonoy, Bulacan, also said that she will continue to do charity works as a way of giving back all the wonderful blessings she has received.
They also vowed to promote women empowerment through various programs and projects. MC
