Abu Sayyaf frees Filipina
hostage, police say

The Abu Sayyaf Group has freed its Filipina hostage and was now under the custody of the Philippine Marines, police official said.

Quoted on radio on Friday, June 24, Senior Superintendent Wilfredo Cayat, provincial director, said Marites Flor was taken to a hospital.

It was not clear whether ransom was paid for the release of Flor who was kidnapped in Samal Island in late 2015, along with Canadians John Ridsdel and Robert Hall and Norwegian Kjartan Sekkingstad.

Ridsdel and Hall were beheaded.
