Bacolod City mayor Monico Puentevella faces suspension from office over the delayed implementation of a decision involving two city building officials, the Office of the Ombudsman said Wednesday, June 22.

The Ombudsman said Puentevella was found guilty of simple misconduct and was ordered suspended for one month and one day.

It said the suspension stemmed from an Ombudsman’s decision in July 2014, ordering the suspension of Building Official Isidro Sun Jr. and Building Inspector Jose Maria Makilan for Conduct Prejudicial to the Best Interest of the Service.

While Puentevella received a directive from the Ombudsman to implement the suspension order on December 9, 2014, he delayed the implementation “in the spirit of Christmas.”

Puentevella enforced the order only on Jan. 1, 2015.
