Batangas declares state of calamity

The local government of Batangas was declared under state of calamity following the onslaught of typhoon “Nina” (international name: “Nock-Ten”) on Wednesday, December 28, according to a radio report.

The declaration of state of Calamity in Tingloy town and Batangas City on Tuesday, Dec. 27, prompted the local government to put the whole province of Batangas under state of calamity, according to Vice Governor Nas Ona of Batangas, as quoted on the report.

At least P43 million calamity fund would be used to help families who were affected.

Typhoon “Nina” made its 5th landfall in Verde Island, 6th landfall in Tingloy, and 7th landfall in Calatagan.

Catanduanes, Camarines Sur and Albay were also declared under state of calamity.
