Good news for commuters: Beep cards can now be used to pay for bus trips in Global City.
The announcement was made by AF Payments and BGC (Bonifacio Global City) Bus on Monday, June 27, at its terminal at Ayala Avenue, Makati City.
The card will be accepted in all seven routes of the BGC Bus: East, West, Central, North, Arca South, Nuvali, Ayala Express, and even its Night Service from 12 a.m. to 5 a.m.
“We want to make going around BGC much easier for workers and other visitors by simplifying the payment system,” said Peter Maher, CEO and President of AF Payments, Inc.
The flat rate for all BGC Bus routes is P12. This price will not be raised or lowered by use of the Beep cards.
The contact-less cards are “a tap-and-go system” devised for commuters taking the Metro Rail Transit (MRT-3) and Light Rail Transit (LRT) train lines around Metro Manila.
The Beep cards may be purchased for P20 from the BGC Bus terminal in Ayala and Market! Market! and all MRT and LRT stations. It may be loaded with a minimum of P12 and a maximum of P10,000 at train stations, Ayala Malls, Bayad centers, Tambunting and Villarica pawnshops. The card is valid for four years.
This replaces the TapBGC card initially deployed for a queue-less system for commuters using the BGC Bus.
Maher said that they are arranging for local convenience stores to become loading stations for Beep cards. The transport executive also explained that they would like the Beep card to be used for payment among more bus operators in the future. MC
