‘Bilibid’ inmates get lessons
on voting for ‘servant leaders’

May 5 2016 8:42 AM

With days to go before Election Day, inmates at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) received a seminar on how to vote wisely for the next leaders of the country, according to Radyo Veritas.

Sister Zeny Cabrera, program coordinator of Caritas Manila’s Restorative Justice Prison Ministry, said in an interview that this would involve guiding inmates by giving them the qualities of good leaders.

“Nagbibigay kami ngayon ng lessons on Servant Leadership, yung ‘Who is a Servant Leader.’ Timely sa New Bilibid na aming pinupuntahan there are those na pwede pang bumoto kasi they are still on appeal,” Cabrera said.

She said even those who could not vote may benefit from Caritas’ campaign on what a servant leader should be.

Radyo Veritas cited figures from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) showing some 42,252 inmates who were eligible to vote this May 9.
