Bong Daza, former husband
of Gloria Diaz, passes away

Former entrepreneur and politician Gabriel “Bong” Daza, ex-husband of 1969 Miss Universe Gloria Diaz and father of actress Isabelle Daza, passed away on Thursday, July 14.

Isabelle made the announcement on her Instagram where the “Tubig at Langis” actress also posted a throwback of her father.

“That time you made all the waitresses in Saisaki sing ‘happy birthday’ for me cause I hurt my head..! Love you Pop. Hug Lola Nora for me up in Heaven,” Isabelle said on IG.

The actress did not give any details about the cause of her father’s death but she had been requesting prayers for her father for several days now.

Reports said that Bong suffered a heart attack and later became comatose.

Bong Daza was the son of culinary icon Nora Daza who passed away in September 2013. He is the elder brother of Sandy, a popular chef and restaurateur.

As a a food businessman, Bong specialized in processed meats and fish.

In 1998, Bong ran for vice mayor of Makati City but lost in the elections.

In February, Isabelle said that she wanted to get married to her French boyfriend Adrien Semblat later this year.

Isabelle is also cousin of television personality-fashion model Georgina Wilson.
