A town council candidate who was defeated in the last May 9 polls was among six people arrested for involvement in the illegal drug trade in Shariff Aguak in Maguindanao, according to radio reports on Thursday, June 23.
Datu Blah Duma, his wife Lukaya, and four others were arrested on Wednesday, June 22, after a month-long surveillance.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives raided an illegal drug den allegedly maintained by the couple in Barangay (village) Poblacion Mother after an agent posed as a buyer of drugs from Duma.
They arrested the couple and four “customers.” Duma had lost in the race for town council of Shariff Aguak in May.
Seized was a plastic container with suspected drugs, marked money and a caliber .45 pistol, along with a homemade explosive device and a 40-millimeter rifle grenade launcher.
