Unregistered insecticides and rat glue traps supposedly from China are being sold in Manila’s Divisoria and Quiapo districts, an ecological group said.

The products have not undergone official safety and efficacy evaluation and may potentially be harmful, EcoWaste Coalition said.

“Consumers are lured into buying these contraband products because of their affordability, attractive packaging and claims of being non-toxic and safe,” said the group’s coordinator Anthony Dizon.

EcoWaste said it discovered the products June 1, and reported these to the Food and Drug Administration on June 2.

It said the aerosol insecticides, packaged in colorful 750 ml canisters, were sold from P75 to P80 each, while the rat traps from P20 to P40 each.
