A United Arab Emirates court sentenced a Filipino cook and two Emiratis to six months in jail each for engaging in prostitution in Al Barsha last November, a UAE news site reported Thursday, June 30.
The Filipino cook was ordered jailed by the Dubai Court of First Instance for working as a male prostitute and having consensual sex with the two jobless men aged 21 and 25, Gulf News reported.
Presiding judge Fahd Al Shamsi also gave the two Emiratis another six-month jail sentence for beating up the cook and stealing his belongings.
He also ordered one of the two Emiratis who punched the Filipino and took his belongings deported after he serves his sentence.
But the Filipino maintained in court he did not work in prostitution.
Wednesday’s ruling is subject to appeal within 15 days.
Investigation showed the two Emiratis picked up the Filipino cook and took him to a villa where they had paid sex.
But one of the Emiratis punched the Filipino unconscious then stole Dh3,000 cash and a mobile phone. The 21-year-old was found in possession of the stolen phone.
While the 21-year-old claimed he did not know the phone was stolen, the 25-year-old insisted he did not have sex with the Filipino or steal his belongings.
He claimed what happened was “a mutual assault.”
A policeman testified the Filipino reported to the Dubai Police that he had been assaulted. His cheek was swollen at the time.
“He said three men attacked him suddenly while he was walking in the street. He said they forced him into their vehicle, took him to a villa where they had sex with him. We took the claimant to the police station where we recorded his statement and then sent him to the hospital,” the policeman testified.
But a police corporal said the Filipino changed his statement and admitted he had paid sex with them. (MC)
