A fire in a depressed area of Sta. Cruz, Manila razed 15 houses, according to radio reports on Monday, June 20.
The fire broke out at 10:32 a.m., reached the second alarm, and was declared under control at 11:18 a.m.
Resident Herminia Tuliao was quoted as saying that the fire started in the home of her neighbor Cecille Reyes, who left a candle unattended inside her home along Mayhaligue Street in Sta. Cruz’s Barangay (village) 262.
The area was experiencing brownout after power supply was cut due to illegal connections.
Damage to property was estimated at P100,000. No casualties or injuries were reported.
