Iyam Bridge along the Lucena Diversion Road in Barangay (village) Domoit, Lucena City in Quezon province is temporarily closed to traffic due to ongoing reconstruction and widening work there, an official of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said.

DPWH Region 4-A Director Samson Hebra said the bridge has been closed since 7 p.m. of June 22 until 6 a.m. of June 26.

The DPWH advised motorists driving light vehicles and buses from Manila to other parts of Quezon, Bicol and Visayas and vice versa to use the old route of the Manila South Road at the Lucena City proper.

Trucks and other heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter the city proper and will have to wait until the bridge reopens on June 26.

Meanwhile, the DPWH said it has coordinated with the Lucena City government and police to provide assistance in managing the rerouted traffic at the old route.
