The fire that struck Malabon City on Wednesday night, February 8, left at least 2,000 families homeless, according to a television report on Thursday, Feb. 9.

The victims from the fire at People’s Village in Catmon were asked to stay at the Catmon Integrated School and in a covered court.

Others were forced to stay on the streets due to lack of space in the designated evacuation centers.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.

The fire in Malabon happened after another one hit the Parola Compound in Tondo, Manila on Feb. 7 that left at least 15,000 people homeless.

The Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) has responded to both incidents.
