Mayor Estrada suspends classes
in Manila’s public, private schools

Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada ordered the suspension of classes in all levels in public and private schools on Monday, February 6.

“In light of the prevailing transport strike, the Honorable Mayor Joseph Ejercito Estrada has ordered that classes in all levels, in all public and private schools in the City of Manila, are hereby SUSPENDED for today, February 6, 2017,” his office said in a post on its official Facebook account.

Several universities and colleges in Manila cancelled their classes and office work earlier on Monday due to the ongoing public transport strike in the metropolis.

Earlier in the day, jeepney drivers, under the transport group Stop and Go Coalition, staged a strike against the government’s order to phase out dilapidated jeepneys.
