Good news for households in Metro Manila and nearby provinces: the Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) is bringing down rates by 13 centavos per kilowatt-hour (kwh) in June, the power firm announced on Tuesday, June 7.
Meralco said this was due to decreases in generation costs and taxes, which offset higher transmission costs.
Meralco said in a post on its official Twitter account that this meant savings of:
– P25.47 for households using 200 kwh
– P38.21 for households using 300 kwh
– P50.95 for households using 400 kwh
– P63.69 for households using 500 kwh
