runs aground off Cebu–Coast Guard

Malapascua-IslandA Panamanian-flagged cargo vessel ran aground off Malapascua Island in Cebu on Monday, June 13, the Philippine Coast Guard said.

The Coast Guard said the pre-dawn incident involving the “M/V Belle Rose” occurred off Monad Shoal, about four nautical miles southeast of Malapascua Island in Daanbantayan.

No one was initially reported injured, the Coast Guard said.

Citing initial information, the Coast Guard said the vessel ran aground in the area at about 3 a.m.

The Coast Guard said the vessel was reportedly loaded with an undetermined quantity of cement and was heading for San Fernando Port in Naga, Cebu.
