A Cavite-based choir bagged the gold medal in an international competition in Austria, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.
The Coro Regina Coeli bagged the gold in the Mixed Choir and Sacred Choral Music categories in the 30th Franz Schubert International Choir Competition from May 4 to 7.
“Composed mainly of young students, the Coro Regina Coeli bested 16 choirs from 11 countries in the competition held in Schubert-Saal, Kozerthaus in Vienna, Austria,” the DFA said.
It said the choir was under the direction of conductor Renalie Aquino.
Before the competition, the choir was invited by Philippine Ambassador Maria Zeneida Collinson for lunch and a pep talk.
Coro Regina Coeli received support from Circulo Caviteno, headed by CFAA president Elmer Blanco. It will be traveling to Spain next after Austria.
