The Philippine Coast Guard has contained an oil spill that came from a capsized motor yacht last week, according to a report from its office.

The “Defender”, owned by one Uso Hiroshi, was docked at the Manila Yacht Club when it overturned at about 4 a.m. on June 1, spilling oil, the PCG said.

The Marine Environmental Protection Unit in Manila issued a Marine Pollution Inspection Apprehension Report (MARPOL) to the boat captain as Coast Guard teams immediately deployed oil spill booms and used absorbent materials to clean the sheen.
