A price freeze on basic commodities will be implemented in areas where a state of calamity will be declared due to Typhoon Ruby, a radio report quoting Trade and Industry Undersecretary Victorio Dimagiba said on Saturday, December 6.

Among those to be included in the price freeze are canned goods, milk, coffee, soap, candles, bottled water, flour, construction supplies and electrical supplies.

Dimagiba said regional offices in places to be hit by the typhoon are ready to implement the price freeze.

Violators will be fined from P5,000 to P1 million and imprisoned for up to 10 years.
