The commander of a Quezon City police station was relieved from her post Thursday, March 17, a day after two policemen there engaged in a deadly shootout, according to radio reports.
Superintendent Teresita Escamillan’s relief was part of the procedures involved in the investigation of the incident on Wednesday, March 16, according to reports.
Escamillan will be replaced as head of Station 12 (Eastwood) by Superintendent Jeffrey Bilaro.
But Chief Supt. Edgardo Tinio, QCPD head, said this did not mean Escamillan had any direct liability in the incident.
On Wednesday, Police Officer 1 Rollsmith Ducusin and PO2 Teejay Valdez engaged in a shootout inside the station. Both were wounded.
Senior Police Officer 1 Arnel Fortes, who tried to intervene, was shot and critically wounded. He died before dawn Thursday.
