SC orders Comelec to comment
on party-list seat allocation–report

June 29 2016 2:34 PM

Supreme CourtThe Supreme Court is asking the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to comment on petitions regarding seat allocations for winning party-list groups, according to a radio report.

The petitioners — An Waray, Agricultural Sector Alliance of the Philippines (Agap), and Citizens’ Battle Against Corruption (Cibac) – claimed that the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC) were unfair in deciding the number of seats given to them in the incoming 17th Congress.

The three party-list groups were each given one seat in the past May 9 national elections based on the computations provided under the party-list law.

Ating Guro filed a separate motion on May 23 questioning why it was not included in the final winners’ roster proclaimed by the NBOC.
