Some 200 people massed in front of the Department of Justice (DOJ) in Manila on Thursday, November 5, to protest the ongoing killing of Lumads allegedly by government forces, according to a radio report.

The protesters, part of the “Manilakbayan” Caravan accused the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) of recruiting Lumads to kill their own, the report said.

The caravan kicked off in Davao City last October 17.

It calls for the pullout of military troops from Lumad schools and communities, as well as justice for the victims of the killings.

The AFP denied the Lumads’ allegations and countered that the killings were perpetrated by the New People’s Army (NPA).
