A cum laude graduate of the University of the Philippines (UP) in Diliman, Quezon City has been crowned Miss Global Philippines 2016 during a pageant held at the Resorts World Manila in Pasay City recently.
Camille Jensen Hirro, 28, of Pampanga, beat 22 other candidates in the only beauty contest for single women and single mothers.
First runner-up was Perlyn Ocampo, the only single mother in this year’s batch; Janelle Olafson, second runner-up; Sammie Anne Legaspi, third runner-up; and Christine Hortsman, 4th runner-up.
Hirro graduated with a degree in AB Communication Arts in 2009. Later, she worked for the Office of Senator Alan Peter Cayetano for two years.
The 5”5 tall beauty is also a ghostwriter for politicians and columnists. But she refused to reveal her clients.
Hirro has also appeared in teleseryes, infomercials, TV commercials and hosted corporate functions.
Rodgil Flores of the Kagandahang Flores (KF) beauty camp said that Hirro began to train in his camp in March. “I’ve seen her in some of her hosting gigs. Since then she hooked up with us and we trained her.”
Hirro said that she will go back to the camp to prepare for the Miss Global 2016 international beauty contest. “We’re like a family in KF. We tell each other what we can do so that we can improve ourselves.”
Hirro is in a relationship for more than two years now with the son of sixth-time world bowling champ Paeng Nepomuceno.
The new beauty queen is a consistent honor student from elementary to college. She received 14 awards when she finished high school and she had an average of 1.75 when she graduated in UP. She also plays the piano, sings very well, and sketches. She does not smoke and drink.
Edna Hirro, mother of Camille, said that her daughter is the second to the eldest of her eight children. “It’s really her dream to become a beauty queen. We also talk in English with our children at home, so perhaps that’s how she developed her good communication skills.”
