Users of Twitter on Android devices are in for a surprise: its app has been redesigned to “align with the best of android”, according to an engineering manager of the microblogging platform.
In a blog post, Maryann Vellanikaran said: “This new experience is rolling out to everyone globally today — update your Android app to check it out.”
Among the changes are:
* Tab bar at the top of the screen with swipe functionality. This lets users quickly move between their Home timeline, Notifications, Direct Messages, and more.
* Navigation menu that slides out from the side for access to a user’s profile, Highlights, lists, the Connect tab, and settings.
* New floating action button that lets one easily send a Tweet.
The Verge noted the buttons for the sections were now “much bigger,” so a user no longer has to tap tiny icons.
