Britain’s referendum or plebiscite is yielding more votes to leave the European Union (EU) as of posting time, according to partial results reported by the BBC.
At least 7,801,236 people voted for “Brexit” (Britain + exit) for the United Kingdom to leave the European network of nations while 7,339,987 wanted their country to remain.
The 193 results have been reported from a total of 382 localities in Britain as well as 11 national and regional centers that need to be declared, before one side is declared the winner of the nation-wide referendum. The official result would be announced by Electoral Commission chief counting officer Jenny Watson at Manchester Town Hall.
Around 46.5 million people were registered to vote in the historic referendum. MC
