Fans of Apple’s iPhone may be in for a treat when the 2017-model iPhone comes out in the market: It may ditch the aluminum casing for something “glassy”, according to a report.
The 2017-model iPhone may also have an AMOLED screen, Apple-oriented site 9to5mac said, citing information from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
It will also have a thinner and ligher AMOLED display panel.
This also means, however, that the new design would not likely be seen in the upcoming iPhone 7, which is due to be released in late 2016, the report said.
So far, the iPhone 7’s potential come-on is a dual-camera system for better pictures, the report said.
It noted how Apple had used glass for the front and back of the iPhone 4 and 4s, but had a steel band in between.
“It certainly looks like Apple’s next big refresh for the iPhone will not come to light this year, perhaps earlier in 2017 if not the fall,” it said.
