Will La Salle end it? Or will Ateneo
force Game 3 for UAAP crown?

December 7 2016 11:40 AM

Will La Salle end it today? Or will Ateneo put up one big fight to force a winner-take-all for the championship of the UAAP 79 men’s basketball tournament?

Game 2 is at 3:30 p.m. this Wednesday, December 7, at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

The Green Archers prevailed over their archrival, the Blue Eagles, 67-65, in Game One of their best-of-three finals at the Mall of Asia (MOA) in Pasay City last Saturday, Dec. 3

The Archers, who led by as much as 15 points at the start, hung on even as the Eagles battled back to tie the game several times in the last two quarters but somehow could not get the go-ahead.

A sideshow to Saturday’s game was the altercation between Ateneo Assistant Coach Gabby Severino and former Batangas Vice Governor Mark Leviste, a supporter of La Salle, who gave each other the “obscene finger” as both teams were leaving the court.

Severino has since apologized.

The Archers last won the crown in 2013.

The Eagles were champions in 2012 in a historic “five-peat” that started in 2008 under Coach Norman Black.
