Zamboanga del Norte Governor Roberto Uy was ordered suspended on Monday, June 20, over the illegal dismissal of six local government employees in 2013, the Office of the Ombudsman said.

The Ombudsman said Uy has the six probationary employees’ services terminated after he assumed office as governor in 2013.

The Ombudsman said it found Uy guilty of simple misconduct, adding it ordered him suspended for three months without pay.

Also, the Ombudsman said the employees appealed the dismissal order before the Civil Service Commission (CSC), which declared their termination invalid.

Uy “failed to reinstate the complainants” despite a CSC order to the provincial government to do so and to pay back their salaries.
