Remembering Marawi,
refugees worldwide in a song

Over the weekend, a singer-songwriter by the name of Louis Xavier emailed NewsCentral.PH a song he composed for World Refugees Day on June 20.

He said the song was dedicated to the millions of refugees worldwide.

While he was composing the song, fighting in Marawi erupted between government soldiers and local terrorists who called themselves the Maute Group.

Xavier said the song could not have been more timely as the people of Marawi have become refugees themselves in their own land. He likewise dedicates this song to them.

Based in Manila, Xavier a singer-songwriter, was a finalist in the UK Songwriting Contest.

He plays the piano and guitar, mixes and produces his demo songs in his own studio.

In 2015, Xavier appeared in a softdrink TV commercial as “Jhunard the Rocker guy “

He is currently busy finishing his first self-titled album.

As the country remembers the fallen heroes in Marawi on Independence Day, NewsCentral.PH would also like to remember those who have lost their freedom to live in peace, as well, and that their only hope of survival is to “Keep Holding On”.
