TV host-actress Kris Aquino could not have been more emphatic in her denial about a meeting with Senator Antonio Trillanes IV in Hawaii, stamping “Stop the Lies” over an image of the online link of the story which raised the question of whether they were “cooking up something” against President-elect Rodrigo Duterte.
The caption posted by the youngest sibling of outgoing President Benigno Aquino III on her Instagram account read:
“Check every post, interview, speech, kahit pa print pa natin lahat ng text messages ko – I have never spoken against President Elect Duterte- hanapin nyo pa his Kris Tv guesting when we taped in Davao & I said wish kong mag OJT sa city hall nya.”
“I am peacefully spending time w/ my sons, bumabawi sa kanila ng bongga because for too long I was a workaholic Mom- and this time is all for them,” said Aquino who has been vacationing in Hawaii with her sons Joshua and Bimby after the May 9 elections.
Aquino said she heard about the “chismis” (gossip) about the meeting with Trillanes from “a cousin, a close friend and an ABS co-worker” and “debated” on whether she would address it.
“I realized I’d let the malicious liars succeed by keeping quiet because by ignoring the made up Hawaii meet up- may maniniwala & may madadagdag na teleserye plot twists. I do have this venue w/ more than 2 million followers to tell the TRUTH. HINDI KAMI NAGTAGPO SA HAWAII ni Senator Trillanes. Kung gagawa ng script para siraan ako- mas galingan nyo naman please???”
(I realized I’d let the malicious liars succeed by keeping quiet because by ignoring the made up Hawaii meet up- there would be those who would believe it and there would be additional teleserye plot twists. I do have this venue with more than 2 million followers to tell the truth. Senator Trillanes and I did not meet in Hawaii. If anyone will do a script to destroy me, please make it better next time?)
She posted on her Instagram account an image with text “Stop the Lies” over an online link with heading “Kris Aquino, Sen. Antonio Trillanes Spotted Together in Hawaii, Cooking Something vs Duterte?”
The report that appeared on tahonews.com on May 29 said Aquino and the senator were spotted together in Hawaii.
“Many Filipinos start to wonder why of all places outside the country, the two decided to see each other in Hawaii, considering that recent data showing that the Filipino is the largest ethnic group in Hawaii. But more importantly, why are they together?” according to the article.
The website also quoted a report on Philippine radio station, Bombo Radyo, on May 28 where Manny Pascua, its correspondent in Hawaii, confirmed from Filipinos there that the two were seen together.
“Are they seeing each other in Hawaii because they are having a secret affair? Or are they cooking something unpleasant against President-elect Duterte?” asked tahonews.com.
At the thick of the campaign in the recent elections, the senator accused then presidential candidate Duterte of failing to declare P211 million in his statement of assets and liabilities and net worth (SALN) in 2014.
Trillanes, an incumbent senator, left the country for a business trip on May 17. He lost his vice presidential bid to Liberal Party candidate, Representative Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo of Camarines Sur, who will be proclaimed the winner, along with President-elect Duterte by Congress as the National Board of Canvassers, on Monday, May 30.
Aquino left the country on May 9 after casting her vote.
Aquino has yet to renew her contract with ABS-CBN, her former mother studio.
