Twitterverse exploded on November 17 with two online rivalries so fierce Netizens went on full beast mode to support their idols.
On one side there’s the battle, albeit friendly and playful, between Canadian Prime Minister (PM) Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto dubbed “Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) hotties,” which netizens said was the best thing that happened to the summit amid traffic snarls.
The other was a fictitious war, which erupted at the “kalye serye” segment of noontime show “Eat Bulaga” where Yaya Dub played by Maine Mendoza was pitted against Cindy, bequeathed to Mendoza’s onscreen boyfriend Alden Richards by her Lola Babah (AiAi delas Alas), which kept the AlDub Nation abuzz.
Trudeau and Nieto arrived in Manila on November 17 along with other heads of state and representatives of the 21-member economies attending the Apec summit.
No less than presidential sister Kris Aquino welcomed the Mexican president at the NAIA.
She and former President now Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada toured Pena Nieto to Luneta Park.
Justin Pierre James Trudeau, 38, is the 23rd PM of Canada who is also head of the Liberal Party.
After graduation at McGill University where he earned his bachelor of arts degree in literature and bachelor of education degree from the University of British Columbia, Trudeau worked as a French and Math teacher.
In 2007, he dabbled in acting in the CBC mini-series “The Great War”.
Trudeau has been married to his childhood friend Sophie Gregoire for 10 years now.
Meanwhile, Pena Nieto, the 57th president of Mexico began his six-year term in 2012.
He was a former governor whose victory in the presidential election marked the return of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) who went into a 12-year hiatus after ruling the country for 71 years.
In 1993, he married his first wife Monica Pretelini and the couple had three children.
She, however, died of an epileptic episode on January 11, 2007.
Later, the 49-year-old Pena Nieto met TV soap opera star Angelica Rivera whom the government asked to campaign for their programs.
Their much-publicized love affair had a happy ending when they wed on November 2011.
With debonair good looks, netizens quickly set a Twitter face-off between the two leaders.
Team Trudeau buhok pa lang ulam na!
I was #TeamTrudeau at the start, but then I see Papi Nieto’s smile… hrrrmmm ~_^ #slightchangeofheart
Canadian Bae or Mexican Papi? After reading their profiles, I think I’ll go with #teamTrudeau. Haha! #APEChottie

Meantime, AlDub fans expressed solid support for Yaya Dub after her rival Cindy Corvikova was introduced to her boyfriend.
According to Lola Babah, Corvikova, a model is a Warsian – half Waray, half-Russian, who graduated from Harvard University.
On the November 17 “kalye serye” episode Corvikova displayed her modeling and Dubsmash skills in a near death match with Yaya, which kept audiences in stitches.
Fans expressed various reactions to the new character which kept AlDub’s assigned hashtag #ALDUBTheWho alive.
Walang wala ung Cindy na un kay meng! Lips pa lang Panis na sya!
ALDUB MEME @ALDUBmemeOFC
As viewers we should be mature enough in reviewing a story. The absence of compelling conflicts can make it dull & boring.
