And then there was a plot twist.
Fans of Eat Bulaga’s hit kalye serye were glued to their television sets on Saturday, August 22, as the wedding of Yaya Dub (Maine Mendoza) and Frankie Arinolli was supposed to take place.
It was the second time that a wedding had been arranged. In the first supposed wedding, Yaya Dub fainted and was rushed to the hospital. It also delayed the meeting of her love interest, Alden (played by Alden Richards).
Everything was ready again this time and the wedding went on smoothly. The groom and bride were able to exchange I do’s. But after the ceremony, policemen appeared and claimed that the pastor officiating the ceremony was fake.
The pastor had been facing charges of estafa and illegal recruitment. It was also revealed that Lola Nidora (Wally Bayola) was not dying — something she and her doctor claimed.
Lola Nidora only agreed to wedding to get Frankie’s money worth P51 million so she could get back her lost diary containing supposedly shocking secrets.
Both Alden and Yaya Dub were in tears because they thought that the wedding was real. In the end, it was Lola Nidora, who was initially against the pairing of the star-crossed lovers, who planned the fake wedding.
Lola also shared some words of wisdom to Frankie about love not being for sale. True love is pursued and comes at the right time.
“Hindi sapat ang yaman para ibigin ang isang tao. Ang pag-ibig ay nararamdaman. Hindi binibili. Ipinaglalaban at iniingatan. Ito ay pinagkakaloob sa tamang panahon,” she said.
Saturday’s episode #ALDUBAgainstALLODS also reached a new record of the show with 2 million tweets, and became a trending topic locally and worldwide on Twitter.
Fans took to twitter their excitement over the continued romance of AlDub after the wedding turned out to be fake.
