The committee at the House of Representatives tasked to hear the impeachment complaint filed against President Rodrigo Duterte determined that it was sufficient in form on Monday, May 15.
The committee on justice vote came even after complainant Partylist Representative Gary Alejano of Magdalo was grilled by his colleagues over his “personal knowledge” of the allegations against Duterte of murder and other crimes against humanity as a result of his anti-drug war.
Alejano admitted that he had no personal knowledge of the allegations, but said he believed that the claims that were based largely on media reports and witness affidavits were “authentic”.
The committee made its vote after an executive session.
As of posting time, the committee is deliberating whether the same complaint is sufficient in substance.
