At least five areas were placed under tropical storm warning signals as Tropical Depression Ambo headed toward Aurora province as of Sunday afternoon, June 26, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
Pagasa, in its 5 p.m. bulletin, said Ambo was estimated at 140 kilometers northeast of Virac, Catanduanes as of 4 p.m., with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center.
It is forecast to move west-northwest at 22 kph and is expected to be 130 kms northeast of Dagupan City Monday afternoon, June 27, and 705 kms east of Laoag City Tuesday afternoon, June 28.
Under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1 are:
- Camarines Norte
- Northern Quezon including Polillo Islands
Residents in areas under Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal 1 were alerted against possible flash floods and landslides.
Pagasa said Ambo may landfall over Aurora early Monday morning, then weaken after that.
It may cross Nueva Vizcaya, Nueva Ecija, Quirino, Benguet, Pangasinan, and La Union.
Pagasa said Ambo may bring 2.5 to 10 mm per hour (moderate to heavy) rain within its 200-kms diameter.
It also warned of occasional moderate to heavy rain over Northern and Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Bicol. MC
