Defeated vice presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos Jr. may yet find himself occupying an important position in the Duterte Cabinet right after the one-year ban on candidates lapses.
President-elect Rodrigo Duterte said in a press conference in Davao City on Tuesday, May 31, said he was not giving Vice President-elect Leni Robredo a position because it may hurt Marcos who would have a place in his Cabinet.
When asked what position he had in mind for Marcos, Duterte did not name a specific government agency but said, “I promised him.”
Duterte said he and Marcos were “friends.”
Earlier reports on NewsCentral.PH said that Duterte wanted to discuss with Robredo a possible Cabinet seat. Robredo has openly spoken of her desire to be part of the government’s anti-poverty programs, while assuring Duterte of 100 percent support in his term.
The Duterte-Marcos tandem was endorsed by religious voting bloc Iglesia ni Cristo, which is believed to deliver at least a million votes for its bets.
