Now that the smoke from the recent elections is beginning to clear, it is time for supporters of all candidates to set aside their differences and unite for the country, a Catholic Church official said.
Retired Caloocan bishop Deogracias Iniguez Jr. said what is important now is to start being patriots, with love of country their first priority.
“So, sa mga supporters ng mga kandidato, kung nanalo ang ating mga kandidato, patuloy natin silang suportahan para maging mabubuti silang mga lingkod ng ating bayan,” Yniguez said on Church-run Radyo Veritas.
Yniguez also called for prayers for the newly elected leaders that they may do their jobs well.
Iniguez added the prayers should also be for the next six years for the nation.
Many elected leaders had been proclaimed at the local level, with the vote count still ongoing for those in national positions.
