Filipino netizens have something to smile about after a video of a soldier’s marriage proposal to a teacher recently went viral.

Army Corporal Gerry Gaspar Palada Padayogdog posted on September 25 a video of his proposal on his Facebook page. It recently caught the attention of netizens and bloggers and has received 25,000 likes as of Tuesday, October 14.

The same video posted on Youtube has received‎ 38,000 views.

The video is dated August 22, 2014 and was edited by Cpl. Ruel P. Clavo of the 14th Scout Ranger Company “Mabalasik.” Padayogdog has yet to respond to NewsCentral if he belongs to the same unit. He lists Can-Avid as his hometown in his Facebook account.

The 7-minute video shows Portia May Herbon Avila of the Can-Avid National High School in Eastern Samar being called onstage during the flag ceremony.

The apparently clueless Avila is then handed roses by 11 students after which Padayogdog appeared with the 12th rose to the delight of the teachers and students witnessing the event.

As two students hold up a tarp with the words “Marry Me” and a love song plays in the background, Padayogdog goes down on one knee and presents Avila an engagement ring.

Avila replies “Yes,” and the two embrace.

Netizens posted their congratulations to the pair, with some women wishing Padayogdog would “lend” their boyfriends his “sweetness and initiative.”
