Ateneo Men’s Team in ‘3-peat’

The La Salle Lady Spikers bagged the UAAP women’s volleyball crown for the second straight year by shooting down the Ateneo Lady Eagles on Saturday, May 6.

But it took the Lady Spikers five sets to dispose of the gritty Lady Eagles –19-25, 25-14, 18-25, 25-18, 15-10, before a jampacked Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

The Lady Spikers swept the Lady Eagles in the series, 2-0, after going down to the same team twice in the elimination round of UAAP 79.

The Lady Spikers and Lady Eagles have faced each other in the Finals for the last six years with La Salle ahead at 4-2.

Earlier on Saturday, the Ateneo Men’s Volleyball Team completed its perfect season after sweeping its own best of three championship series against the National University Bulldogs in two five-setters.


The Ateneo men’s team was undefeated in the two-round elimination while NU, which it faced for the fourth straight year in the championships, was ranked second.
